Links: These are some websites and blogs we can highly recommend.Tom Morris blogs regularly on life issues for The Huffington Post. You can find his HuffPo home page, including a short bio and links to all his recent posts here: Tom Morris on The Huffington Post. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Former Consulting Fellow Ed Brenegar provides one of the most interesting blogs around at Leading Questions, a constant source of insight based in the wisdom of the great thinkers of the past and present. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Business professor Dave Rendall is our newest Fellow in the Institute. He's a natural born philosopher, and you can see for yourself by checking out his great and up to the minute blog, with SHORT and GREAT entries that will jump start your own thinking: The Freak Factor. Really. Give yourself a treat and read his blog. You can come back here later. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Senior Fellow John Stackhouse has his own fascinating blog at Prof. John Stackhouse's Weblog, a compellingly named venture, which provides a series of short essays rooted in a profound understanding of world religion and theology, as well as philosophy, and history, and almost everything else. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chris Phillips, author of the books Socrates Cafe, and Socrates in Love, is the co-founder of this organization and site: The Society for Philosophical Inquiry. Its members are working to create "communities of philosophical inquiry", which they typically call "Socrates Cafés," at places like coffee houses, bookstores, libraries, hospices, senior centers, homless shelters, and prisons. In schools, they are encouraging the development of gatherings they refer to as "The Philosophers' Club." Their members are devoted to publicly reviving the art and skill of Socratic philosophical inquiry. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Levenger is our favorite place to get "Tools for Serious Readers" and writers. This is a great site for special books you can find no where else, incredibly beautiful fountain pens, great paper, storage solutions for your study, that comfortable reading chair you've long needed, leather products to help with note taking and document carrying, and other various and well chosen necessities for life. It's the "go to" supply place for some of the most creative, artistic, and accomplished people in the world. So join the other movers and shakers at: Levenger.com. Co-founder Steve Leveen also has a great blog for anyone who cares about writing or reading. Find it here, with lots of other resources that you'll love: Well-Read Life. Steve's masterful musings can also be found at The Huffington Post. Go to his homepage there for things worth thinking about: Steve Leveen on HuffPo. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Share the Bird: If you're having a bad day, or just want to jump-start a good one, and you don't have time to read a rip roaring philosophical essay on our site or one of these other great blogs, then perhaps it's time to watch our favorite dancing bird getting into one of his favorite songs, "Another One Bites the Dust." Just click on: Our Favorite Bird and, please, watch at least a minute and a half for some amazing footwork, and twenty more seconds for some incredible head moves. It's almost impossible not to laugh, or at least smile. And then go have a great day. |
